Pool Sweeps aka Robot Cleaners
Pool Sweeps are the white blood cells of your pool system, seeking out unwanted dirt & debris and removing it from circulation. pool sweeps are at this point so effective that they are a staple for the backyard pool, as there is no other practical way to keep your pool as clean. Service contracts typically don’t offer daily cleaning, and in order to be able to match the overall cleanliness accomplished by a pool sweep with physical labor, the pool would need to be vacuumed 3-5 times per week to even come close. Of course there are obvious challenges to accomplishing this, and so the obvious solution is to buy a pool sweep.
There are several great options for pool sweeps, but they all basically break down in to 3 main categories:
Pressure Side Sweeps
Suction Side Sweeps
Electric Sweeps
SaFire-Sun Pools Inc. will always recommend a pressure side sweep for just about every situation, conditions allowing, and until the technology makes a light-year-ahead-jump, if your system can accommodate a pressure side sweep there is really no reason to get anything else. While we recommend Pressure-side sweeps, in terms of brand/make/model we are largely indifferent. Many different makes and models work well, although depending on your particular pool shape, material and contours of the walls, one model may work better or worse, and determining which sweep is right for your setting is a matter we can walk through together.
Suction Side Sweeps can be a fine option for systems not able to accommodate a pressure line, and electric sweeps have a niche, but generally speaking a backyard/residential pool is not it. Electric Sweeps can be effective, but they are labor intensive and some can be quite heavy.
